The Women's Cancer Research Foundation (WCRF) is pleased to announce that Jerry Burton has joined the WCRF as a Board Member. The WCRF Board Members are intensely focused on large-scale planning and a strategic direction in endeavoring to achieve the WCRF’s mission.
We welcome Jerry Burton and wanted to share his introductory letter with all of you.
Gentlemen,
I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of the WCRF, as a board member.
After losing my wife Judy to cancer in 2010, my family and I wanted to find a meaningful way to give back in her memory. We believed that supporting the treatment of other women would best honor her memory. That is when we were introduced to the WCRF.
Wanting to further the mission of WCRF through a financial contribution, we decided to have a fund raiser; a golf tournament in our home town of Spokane, Washington. The tournament was an incredible success. Everyone came out to support our goal and what we wanted to accomplish. It became an annual event, The Judy Burton Swing for the Cure.
Through the years, the golf tournament has been a great success, raising thousands of dollars for cancer research. Unfortunately, since the onset of COVID, the tournament has been on hold. However, I look forward to what the future may bring.
I am very much interested in working with the WCRF in any capacity needed to help with the future of the foundation.
